In it's position as one of the largest courier firms in a competitive market, Federal Express has a massive amount of operatives working in a diverse range of employment roles. As you might imagine a big proportion of these FedEx jobs are customer facing roles and a significant level of staff are employed as couriers.

Working as a driver involves collecting and dropping off parcels and other consignments for both individuals and businesses. The variety of consignment types you provide are largely affected by the route you are given. So, if you have a city or town delivery zone which covers city areas, etc then your jobs are mainly going to be made up of company consignments and you will be expected to make many collections and drop offs a day because the miles you'll be required to travel in a densely inhabited town or city will be not very far from order to order. Supposing the your delivery area is out of the city then your deliveries will probably be more varied and will consist of a larger amount of deliveries to home addresses. Because destinations in out of town places may commonly be a large distance away from each other you will usually a lower number of orders than you would be given on an urban delivery route. Many delivery drivers like this type of route because you get to spend more time behind the wheel whereas driving in urban areas you will be expected to make a bigger number of pick ups and drop offs a lesser distance apart, alongside having to sit in city traffic.

Supposing you're thinking of making an application for a job as a FedEx driver then you need to be up to speed with the jobs required standards. There are not any official qualifications needed to be a courier although a decent education and experience as a driver can certainly help your opportunities. Naturally you will need to have a driving licence plus a reasonably clean drivers record. You'll also need to show your organisational skills and initiative plus the ability to provide great customer service due to the fact that you are the face of the company when you are making your collections and deliveries. Real world training is given to you in the real working environment - if you are fresh to this kind of work then you may well be placed with an seasoned courier for a while whilst you learn the ropes.

One factor of a FedEx Job as a courier which many find desirable is the freedom you are given. You will get the benefits and stability of being employed by a large corporation - but once you have set off on your rounds for the shift you are on your own with nobody constantly watching over you. This means that you are able to involve your own initiative to the job. Naturally there are a set of standards which you must deliver on to in order to provide fantastic service to your clients but essentially you are given a task for the day and then it is up to you to decide the most efficient way to get the job done.
